How to care for chrysanthemums in autumn? Care methods and precautions
I. Watering
Watering plays an important role in its growth. We must give it sufficient water so that it grows better and its flowers look better. Once flower buds appear, we should give it more water. In autumn, the amount of watering should still be determined according to the weather: on rainy days you can skip watering, on cloudy days water less, and on sunny days water more. In addition, the watering tool is best a fine-nozzle spray pot; do not water it too much, and do not water too forcefully, otherwise it is easy to cause root rot and yellowing.
II. Fertilizing
1. Before fertilizing, you need to loosen the soil for it, and you must not water; afterward, when the potting soil is relatively dry, we should add liquid fertilizer. When fertilizing, do not let the fertilizer water touch the leaves, otherwise the leaves easily turn yellow. After fertilizing, use a spray pot to add clean water to it, so that the fertilizer liquid on the leaves can be washed off.
2. By early October, you can apply 0.1% urea and 0.05% monopotassium phosphate to it. Apply about once every five days; you can also use this fertilizer once and organic liquid fertilizer once. In addition, we can mix the above fertilizers and spray them in the evening as a top dressing, about once every three days.
3. We need to check the leaves every day. If the leaf veins become wider, the color is no longer bright, and the leaves become stiff, then we need to reduce the fertilizer application. And if the second node counting from the top of the plant is the thickest part of the whole plant, and the buds on the flower head are opening and showing color, then no more fertilizer should be applied.
III. Pruning
In autumn it reaches the bud stage, but if it does not produce flower buds while new leaves are still growing at the growing point, the upper buds need to be cut off. If you let it bloom freely, it easily leads to an unattractive flower shape. And after it develops fully, we should cut off the parts that are too tall below the flower receptacle, and then tie the flower head firmly, so that the flower will grow better.
IV. Light
After blooming, for those with lighter colors we should provide shade, and for those with darker colors we should give more light.
