How to water chrysanthemums? Master the right method for fuller blooms
1. Choosing the water
Do not use just any water; use water with few minerals, such as river water, pond water, or rainwater you have stored yourself. If these are hard to obtain, you can use sun-warmed tap water.
2. Water temperature
The water temperature also has requirements: it should be nearly the same as the soil temperature. Generally, in winter, water at noon when the water is warmer, while in summer, morning and evening are better.
3. Amount of watering
1. When the temperature is especially high and it is very dry, moisture loss is also greater, so we need to water it once or twice a day.
2. When the temperature is relatively low, or on cloudy and rainy days, we should water much less, and can simply choose not to water at all. If there is very heavy rain, we should pour the water out of the potting soil; it must not be left soaked in water and rot to death.
3. If it is a newly repotted plant, the first watering must be sufficient.
4. During its seedling stage, we must not water it too much; but if it has grown larger and the temperature is getting higher, we should water it more. Generally, the reason for controlling it in the early stage is to manage its height, while later the main goal is to make the flower buds grow well.
5. After pinching, water evaporation is relatively low, so the amount of watering should be reduced accordingly, and once it sprouts, normal watering can resume.
6. In the later stage of its growth, if flower buds have formed, it needs more watering; if it has bloomed, then the amount of watering should be less.
4. Specifics
In fact, the specific watering still needs to be decided according to the situation. If the soil has turned white, we can water it; if the pot is already very wet, then we must not continue watering, because if it is often in a moist state, it cannot grow well. If mud splashes onto the leaves while watering, we should rinse it off with water, otherwise the leaves can easily drop off.
