What to Do When Gardenia Flower Buds Wither? Causes and Solutions
1. Excess water
(1) Specific cause: too much water causes waterlogging, and the roots will rot. If the plant is in its flowering period, the flower buds are very likely to wither and drop.
(2) Solution: if adjusted in time, the plant can recover. The best approach is not to water as long as the soil is not dry, which is most beneficial to the roots.
2. Soil compaction
(1) Specific cause: if the soil becomes compacted, the roots cannot absorb enough water and nutrients, and naturally cannot supply the flower buds with sufficient water and nutrients. Then the flower buds are very likely to wither.
(2) Solution: with the help of a soil-loosening tool, insert it into the soil from the edge of the flower pot. Gently shake the pot a little to make the potting soil relatively loose.
3. Insufficient light
(1) Specific cause: only with sufficient light can there be more flower buds, and they will not wither. If kept in a very dark environment for a long time, photosynthesis is very weak, and the flower buds are very likely to wither.
(2) Solution: place it in a sunny spot, but not in direct sunlight. At least two hours of exposure per day must be ensured to enhance photosynthesis.
4. Pests and diseases
(1) Specific cause: if the plant suffers from disease or pests during the flowering period, there will be fewer flower buds, and those that do grow may also wither.
(2) Solution: if this is the cause, spray the corresponding pesticide according to the different types.
5. Insufficient nutrients
(1) Specific cause: the flowering period consumes a lot of nutrients; if the supply is insufficient, the flower buds are very likely to wither.
(2) Solution: you can bury some compound fertilizer in the soil, or some mineral agents. But do not use too much.
