9 fun gardening activities to enjoy with children

These days, gardening friends still ask me: does a snake plant bloom? Does aloe bloom? Can you eat it? We really should have known the answers to these questions long ago.
Parents should let their children learn more about these things, let them get in touch with a green life, surrounded by flowers and plants, all kinds of vegetables, flowers and wild grasses, and this will give children a wonderful world.
1. When learning to walk
Besides taking children to kindergarten and amusement parks, parents also need to take them to get close to nature, to come into contact with flowers, grasses and small insects, pick a harmless flower and give it to the child.
Even if the child does not necessarily understand nature, this will make them curious about nature and plants, and at this point parents just need to be good caretakers.
2. Bring nature home
Tell children some stories about the miracles of nature, introduce flowers, grasses and trees to them; it is not only cultural knowledge that matters, this natural science can also be interesting; give plants all kinds of stories, and believe that children will listen with great interest.
3. Technology and nature
Do not let children think, as soon as they touch electronic products, that these are tools for playing games and watching cartoons; let them know from an early age that these tools can be used to understand nature and appreciate nature.
For example, use GPS technology to go treasure hunting in a room, use binoculars to look at flowers, grasses, trees and small animals, look at the stars and the moon at night, teach them to draw butterflies and flowers on a tablet, and use a camera to record the beautiful scenery in the garden.
4. Embrace a green life
You can give children a pile of toys when they are small, all kinds of stuffed dolls or plastic products, but I think the best gift is to let children know about green health, take them to gardening stores and organic farms, teach them to recognize vegetables and fruits, and understand how plants grow.
Children will learn about healthy fruits and vegetables, and that eating them will make them strong and smart; grow vegetables and flowers in the yard or on the balcony using organic, natural methods, let the children help, and you can prepare gardening toys for them.
5. Outdoor activities
People who live in cities often complain that they have no time for outdoor activities; to them, the outdoors means streets, shopping malls and parks.
But there are many places that can help your children come into contact with nature, and you can learn about them through botanical gardens, gardening stores, flower shops and farms. Go breathe in the breath of nature and feel its vitality.
6. Play outside regularly
It is very necessary for parents to set aside some time to get close to nature with their children; even a few hours in the garden or on the terrace is fine, and if the children like drawing, you can also encourage them to record the beauty of life.
Do not be afraid of children getting their clothes or hands dirty; the process of exploring nature requires some sacrifice.
7. DIY gardening projects
You can help children complete seed cultivation, let them care for plants, understand how plants grow, and teach them to use some everyday items to DIY small potted plants; this will be very meaningful.
8. Collecting
Children like to collect things, so why not encourage them to collect? Let them be inspired by nature; the things they collect may be pine cones, flower petals, leaves, a beautiful stone, seashells from the beach or a small twig, and there is no need to rush to throw them away.
Let children protect their collections, just as adults like the things they collect and would not like them to be destroyed; education in respect should start from childhood.
Get closer to nature a little more, and their collections will grow and grow!
9. Go on adventures
Do not just stay in shopping malls and movie theaters; you can go on family hikes, go fishing, go see waterfalls, camp in the backyard or a botanical garden; these activities do not cost much, but they can bring you close to nature and are very meaningful for the whole family, letting children learn from an early age to cherish every plant and tree around them.
Reduce contact with electronic products and encourage them to go out together; this will give children the most wonderful and most interesting childhood.
