Event | May 8, 2018 "Taiwan-Japan-Korea Moment - School Lunch and Non-GMO Action Workshop" @ Taipei

Would you like to know how the nutritious school lunches that children in Taiwan eat differ from those in other countries?

In Japan, through the School Lunch Koshien competition and chefs giving lessons at schools, locally sourced non-GMO dietary education is promoted, along with the passing on of traditional Japanese cuisine culture that is gradually disappearing between generations; in Korea, after the presidential election, through the power of civil society groups, advocacy centered on non-GMO and school lunches was put forward; in Taiwan, civil society volunteers proposed non-GMO school lunch advocacy during the local elections four years ago, which ultimately led to legislation.

The school lunches of Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, serving a total of 200 million people, have cultural, policy, and social differences and similarities that await our deeper understanding. The School Lunch 22 project team is bringing together speakers from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea for the first time, starting from the shared experiences and memories of 200 million school lunches across Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, to share their respective experiences in civil society promotion, education, and action.
