When does the red spider lily bloom? An introduction to its flowering period
1. Specific flowering periods
For this plant, it mainly blooms during two periods. The first period is from February to March. The second period is from July to September, and among these, the flowers bloom best in July, which is its peak flowering period. According to legend, those that bloom around the spring equinox are called "spring equinox flowers," and those that bloom around the autumn equinox are called "autumn equinox flowers." Generally speaking, it blooms very punctually.
2. Points to note for flowering
(1) Light: If you want it to bloom on schedule, light must certainly be ensured. However, it does not like overly strong light. So, placing it somewhere where it can receive scattered light is enough. If there is strong direct light, you can shade it appropriately.
(2) Soil: Because flowering requires sufficient nutrients, you should first ensure that the soil contains nutrients. In addition, according to this plant's habits and characteristics, we should choose soil that is on the acidic side. If it is too alkaline, the soil will clump, and then the root system will rot due to lack of oxygen, making it impossible for it to bloom. So, we can loosen the soil from time to time and sprinkle on some ferrous sulfate solution.
(3) Flower pot: This aspect also has an effect on whether it blooms. If the flower pot chosen is too small, then relatively speaking the space will be insufficient and cannot meet the supply needed during the flowering period. So, we should choose a relatively larger flower pot, and then it will not lead to poor growth or development. In this way, it can also bloom smoothly.
(4) Temperature: Before and after it blooms, it is best to also ensure that the temperature is suitable for it, as this is more favorable for its flowering. Specifically, keeping it at around 24°C is enough.
