How do you care for carnations so they bloom quickly?
1. Light and temperature
To make the plant bloom quickly, the first things you must ensure are naturally sufficient light and suitable temperature. For this plant, the most suitable temperature range is 13°C to 25°C. As for light, it is best to guarantee 6 to 8 hours per day. In this way, its flowering speed will speed up. If you fail to ensure this, let alone flowering, its leaves may wither.
2. Water
In this respect, we must get the amount and frequency of watering right. Water after the surface of the potting soil looks dry, and water thoroughly each time. In other words, we need to observe the condition of the soil especially carefully and not go a long time without watering. Of course, we also cannot water too much and cause water to accumulate in the soil. Otherwise, the plant's roots may rot, and then there is no question of quick flowering. In addition, the air humidity should also preferably be controlled, kept at around 75%.
3. Fertilizer
If you want it to bloom quickly, then relying only on the nutrients drawn from the soil is certainly not enough. Generally speaking, we need to apply a liquid fertilizer once about every ten days. Doing so can promote its flowering. However, this is not an absolute rule. In the hottest part of summer, it is best to pause application. Otherwise, the plant is very likely to wither.
4. Pruning
Proper pruning can not only prompt it to bloom quickly, but also increase the number of flowers. Specifically, when the plant has grown to around 15 cm to 20 cm, you can pinch off the top, leaving only six or seven side buds. Then, when the plant is budding, keep only one and remove the other side buds. In this way, the plant will produce abundant flowers.
