What are the causes and solutions for wilting carnation leaves?

If the leaves of a carnation are wilted and droopy, we first need to check whether it is a lighting problem. Giving it 6-8 hours of light per day is enough, no need for more. Then check whether it is a temperature problem. If the temperature is too high, adjust it to 13-25°C. Finally, check whether it is a water problem. If so, adjust the amount of watering.

1. Lighting problem

(1) Specific cause: Actually, this aspect is very easy to understand. Although the plant cannot grow without light, if it is placed under strong light for a long time, it is very normal for it to wilt.

(2) Solution: If this is the cause, then we need to adjust the duration and intensity of light. Normally, it is better to place it somewhere where it can receive indirect light. When strong direct light appears, find a way to avoid it. The daily light duration should also be limited, and keeping it at six to eight hours is more suitable. Less than that cannot meet its needs, and more than that may cause the leaves to wilt.

2. Temperature problem

(1) Specific cause: This aspect is quite similar to the previous one. If the temperature is very high, symptoms similar to those from excessive light may appear - the leaves wilt.

(2) Solution: If this is the problem, then we need to keep the temperature within the range suitable for its growth. Specifically, the suitable range for this plant is 13 to 25°C. If it is higher, appropriate cooling measures need to be taken. For example, in hot summer, special attention must be paid. Otherwise, the leaves can easily wilt, or even wither.

3. Water problem

(1) Specific cause: Both too much and too little water can cause this phenomenon. If there is too much, its roots may rot, which can damage the leaves and may cause them to wilt. If there is too little, the plant may lack water, which can also lead to the same situation.

(2) Solution: For these two situations, we need to balance the amount of watering. Observe the condition of the potting soil, and only water after the surface has dried.
