What to do about whiteflies on gardenia? Detailed control methods
1. Pest introduction
This is considered a worldwide pest, harmful to most regions and most plant species. This is also true for gardenia. Its legs and wings are very short, making it easy to identify. Its reproductive capacity is very strong, and the corresponding damage is therefore great.
2. Control methods
(1) Wind-blowing method: We also mentioned its appearance above. Therefore, when facing strong wind, they have no way to stay on the plant. If the weather is relatively warm, you can directly take the plant outside and let it receive natural wind. However, if the weather is very cold, or the wind is very light, then you can also use a fan or other means to artificially create strong wind, and the effect is also quite good.
(2) Spraying pesticide: This can be said to be the most effective method, and can target large-area pest damage. Specifically, you can use trichlorfon, or imidacloprid. Once every week, two to three times in total.
(3) Sticky insect traps: This is for situations where the pest damage area is relatively small, and they can be used to stick the insects onto them. However, for situations with too many insects, this is not suitable, as it takes too much effort and is not thorough.
(4) Laundry detergent water: This is a controversial method. Some flower growers found it good after trying it, but others felt it had no effect. In addition, it easily harms the plant itself. Therefore, use this method with caution.
(5) Mosquito coils: For this method, the specific operation is to cover the entire plant with a plastic bag, then poke several holes, and light the mosquito coil. Fumigating for about one hour can effectively suppress the pests.
