What soil is best for growing lucky bamboo? Tips for choosing soil

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
For this plant, growing in soil is one of the main methods. That makes the choice of soil very important. The most basic requirements are that it be loose, airy, and rich in nutrients. Also, given its characteristics, it is best to choose acidic soil. Based on the above requirements, two types are unsuitable: clayey and alkaline soil. Suitable options include soil containing leaf mold, or vegetable garden soil. In addition, to better support plant growth, you can add some materials such as eggshells to the soil, but do not add too much.

1. Soil requirements

(1) Loose and airy: This is of course the first requirement, the most basic one, and one that almost all plants share. Only in this way can the plant breathe more freely and grow more healthily and vigorously.

(2) Fertile: This is the nutritional requirement. Only when the soil contains plenty of nutrients can it fully supply the plant's vigorous needs, especially during the growing season.

(3) Acidic: For this plant, alkaline soil is definitely unsuitable, and this is determined by its characteristics. So when choosing soil, this is also a condition to consider; slightly acidic soil should be chosen.

2. Specific selection requirements

(1) First, the recommended types. Generally speaking, soil containing leaf mold and vegetable garden soil are relatively good. In addition, to better support later growth and development, you can add some eggshells to it.

(2) There are also unsuitable types. The first is clayey soil; it is too sticky and heavy, which is bad for the plant's breathing. The second is alkaline soil. As we said above, this type of soil is unsuitable for its growth.

3. Other requirements

Besides the soil, the container also needs attention. For growing in soil, suitable choices are purple clay pots or plastic pots. If it is to be placed outdoors, earthenware pots are another option.
