How to care for golden-edge lucky bamboo? Growing methods and precautions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
When growing this plant, pay attention: it needs a temperature of 20-28°C, should be placed in an area without strong sunlight, and the water quality must be good - you cannot use tap water directly. For soil culture, apply fertilizer once every two months; for water culture, apply fertilizer once every half month. Be careful with the fertilizer dosage, otherwise the roots will be burned. For water culture, remember to change the water on time. Do not place it near electrical appliances, otherwise the leaves will be affected and become dry and withered.

I. Growing methods

1. Temperature

It has a relatively high tolerance for cold. Placing it at 20-28°C is most beneficial for its healthy growth. If the temperature is only 2-3°C, it can endure it. However, in winter, pay attention to protecting it from frost and freezing. If it is too cold, it will get frostbitten and then wither and shrivel.

2. Light

It is a bamboo that likes cool conditions and has extremely strong shade tolerance in this regard. During normal care, you can place it directly in a semi-shaded area. Be sure not to put it under strong sunlight, otherwise it will turn yellow and its growth rate will slow down.

3. Water quality

If you grow it in water, do not use tap water that has not been left to stand. Let the water stand first, which can reduce some of the chlorine in the water, so that it can stay in good growing condition.

4. Fertilizing

When adding fertilizer, even if you add too much, do not be too nervous - it is very tolerant of fertilizer. Generally, after 2 months you should apply a compound fertilizer once. If it is grown in water, every half month you can pour a little potassium dihydrogen phosphate into the water, which can promote its absorption of nutrients.

II. Precautions

1. After it has grown roots, add some fertilizer to make its stems thicker and stronger, but be sure to pay attention to the dosage, otherwise the roots will be burned. Generally, applying it once a month is enough.

2. Never place it near electrical appliances, because its leaves will be affected and become very prone to withering, which will make it look unattractive.

3. If you want to grow it in water, it is best to do so from April to September, because this period is the most suitable for it. If the weather is relatively dry, you can sprinkle some water on its leaves. Doing so can make it more emerald green and help its leaves spread out better. For water culture, just change the water once every half month. If you leave it unattended all the time, many pathogens will accumulate in the water and the roots will rot.
