What to do when Kalanchoe leaves turn black? Teaching you the correct way to handle it
I. Symptoms
1. The affected parts of this disease are relatively extensive; its leaves, petioles, flowers, and branches are all affected, but the main part is still the leaves.
2. Generally, at the beginning of this disease, the leaves have red-brown and purple-brown spots, which only later slowly enlarge and turn black. These black disease spots have a yellow ring around them, generally appearing in a radial pattern, and the size is about three to ten mm.
3. Generally speaking, in the later stage, there will be some black dots on the disease spots. In more severe cases, the lower part is withered and yellow, the leaves will fall off, and some branches will also die.
4. Generally speaking, this disease begins to appear in May, and July and September are the peak periods, because at this time rainwater is relatively plentiful. They spread through rainwater, wind, and insects, so if the location is relatively low, and ventilation, light, and fertilizer and water are not very good, the disease is very likely to occur under these conditions.
II. Solutions
1. In fact, when we first buy and plant it, we should choose robust plants that are not prone to disease, so that the chance of it developing the disease later will be much smaller.
2. If it has already been planted, we can only clean up the withered branches and leaves after autumn, and it is best to burn them. In addition, we also need to prune it and so on, then place it in a relatively ventilated place with relatively strong light.
3. When new leaves grow out, we can use carbendazim or chlorothalonil solution to treat it, spraying once every seven to ten days; spraying three or four times can solve this symptom. Before the symptoms appear, we should also carefully control it and not let the chance of developing the disease increase.
