If your pothos isn't thriving, give it a sip of beer and it will soon cover the whole house
Pothos is a relatively popular potted plant for the home. It looks small and cute, with oval leaves. Although its branches and leaves are lush, it is not hard to care for. However, pothos is not a native plant of China, so it needs a period of adaptation before it can grow healthily in the soil. The pothos hanging plant, just like its name, has slender stems and leaves that trail gently down from the roots, as beautiful as a heavenly maiden scattering flowers.
However, pothos hanging plants come in large and small sizes, with stems and leaves both long and short. We often wonder why other people's pothos hanging plants can grow so well, so slender and long, while our own looks like a short little stump? Is there some little trick in growing them that we don't know about?
1. Pothos hanging plants like a warm and humid environment. A place with medium sunlight is quite suitable; they do not need too much direct sunlight. If there really is no sunny weather, there is no need to worry, because pothos hanging plants can tolerate a little weak light. But pothos hanging plants have relatively high requirements for indoor temperature. Normally, room temperature is best at 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. In winter, Wenzhou is best kept at around 15 degrees Celsius.
2. If you want pothos hanging plants to grow well, fertilizer is an indispensable factor. The fertilizer more suitable for pothos hanging plants is urea water, but urea water cannot be poured directly onto pothos hanging plants. Instead, it must be mixed with pure clean water before use. This is because pure urea water may burn the roots of pothos hanging plants, which would defeat the purpose. Proper urea water is a top-grade tonic for pothos hanging plants and can make them grow more robustly and healthily.
3. Besides urea water, there is another cheaper fertilizer that is even easier to obtain, and that is beer. Men all like drinking beer. When they are in the mood, they drink a big bottle at a time, but sometimes we cannot finish that much beer, and we do not want to touch the leftover beer from the night before. At this time, do not pour it down the drain and waste resources. We can use the beer we cannot finish as fertilizer for pothos hanging plants. Beer is made from non-toxic and harmless substances such as wheat, so a moderate amount of beer will not harm pothos hanging plants. It is also rich in a large amount of nutrients, which can add nutrition for pothos hanging plants and also has antibacterial and sterilizing effects.
4. Pothos hanging plants really like water. It is better to water them at least once or twice a week to ensure sufficient moisture in the soil. For soil selection, it is best to choose a loose and breathable type of soil, which is beneficial for the roots of pothos hanging plants to breathe. If you find that part of the soil has hardened, then it is very likely that the soil has become compacted. At this time, you cannot water heavily anymore, and instead need to control the amount of water.
