Kalanchoe Flowering Period Care Methods and Precautions
1. Reduce Sunlight
During the flowering period, reduce its light exposure, because sunlight will speed up its photosynthesis and metabolism, which will shorten its flowering period. However, since it cannot do without sunlight, you can let it get some sun in the morning or evening, when the sunlight is relatively weak. After its flowers fade, let it get more sunlight, which can speed up its photosynthesis and hasten the next flowering.
2. Ventilation
If it is often kept in an unventilated environment, not only will its growth rate slow down, but it will also become infected with bacteria. So in winter, open the window at noon to let it get ventilation and help the air circulate indoors.
3. Pruning
During the flowering period, if there are withered branches and leaves, prune them off promptly, otherwise these damaged branches and leaves will consume part of its nutrients, causing the flowers to gradually fade.
4. Fertilizing
After its flowers have fully bloomed, fertilize it, generally with a compound fertilizer, which can replenish the nutrients consumed during the flowering period. Then every 15 to 20 days you can apply a compound liquid fertilizer, at a low concentration. After the flower buds grow larger, apply one or two rounds of monopotassium phosphate or superphosphate, which can help it produce more flowers, with more vivid colors and a longer blooming period.
5. Maintain Temperature
The temperature suitable for its growth is 15 to 25°C. It is best not to let the temperature drop below 10 degrees, otherwise the leaves will have problems, such as turning red, and the flowering time will be delayed.
