What to Do When Pothos Leaves Wilt? Find the Cause and Fix It in Time

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Sometimes we notice that the plant we are growing looks lifeless, with all its leaves drooping. At times like this, what methods should we use to restore it to its former vibrant state? We need to pinpoint the cause and treat the problem accordingly. If it is caused by pests or disease, then kill the pests; if it is caused by improper watering or fertilizing, then adjust the way you water and fertilize; if the environment it is kept in does not suit it, then adjust it in time and give it good growing conditions.

1. Pests and Disease

Generally speaking, the appearance of this phenomenon is closely related to pests and disease. The pests and diseases it is more prone to include spider mites and others, so we can use certain specialized chemicals to kill the pests and diseases so they will no longer continue to affect it. Only in this way can it recover from its wilted state back to a normal appearance.

2. Improper Watering

Improper watering can also cause abnormal changes in its leaves. Generally speaking, we should keep the potting soil slightly moist. If we water too little, it will become very dry; if we water too much, it will become waterlogged. So we must get the balance right: water it when it is short of water, and give it ventilation when there is too much water.

3. Very Low Temperature

Very low temperatures can also affect it. It is best to keep it in an environment above 15°C. If it is below this, it is very likely to cause its leaves to wilt, so if the temperature is not within this range, we should adjust it to this range.

4. Improper Lighting

In summer the light is relatively strong, and we cannot let it be exposed to direct sunlight, because this will affect its leaves. Of course, if it is kept in a very dark place, it also cannot show a very good state. So in the middle of winter we can put it fully in the sunlight, while in seasons such as spring, summer and autumn we can consider placing it under scattered light.

5. Improper Humidity

Humidity also affects it. Generally speaking, we should make the humidity reach 60 percent, and it cannot be too high either, with the maximum only reaching 85. So if it is not within this range, that is also a major reason why its leaves become wilted. Therefore, in daily care you can spray some water into the dry air.

6. Improper Fertilizing

This is one of the causes, and incorrect practices can lead to the problem mentioned above. Generally, each time we fertilize we should use a slightly smaller amount, but fertilize more times. Only in this way will the leaves not wilt. This is because fertilizer is a major factor affecting its healthy growth. If you have never fertilized before, you can buy some compound fertilizer and apply it, and it will grow better and better.
