Reasons Why a Rubber Plant Does Not Grow New Leaves and How to Fix It
1. Fertilizer and water:
1. Some plants need a relatively large amount of fertilizer during their growth process. If the fertilizer is insufficient or does not meet their needs at all, the plant will very likely grow slowly, and correspondingly, new leaves may also fail to grow because of a lack of sufficient fertilizer.
2. So at this time we should consider increasing fertilizer and water, and we need to apply the right fertilizer. In summer, the season with relatively high temperatures, this plant grows relatively quickly, so we can fertilize more and also appropriately increase the amount of water. It is best to use phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, which helps it grow quickly. You can regularly spray fertilizer once a week.
3. At the same time, some bone meal can be buried in its soil, without burying it too deep. For water and fertilizer, ordinary agricultural fertilizer can be used, dissolved in water at a ratio of 5 percent, and then poured onto the roots or sprayed onto the surface of the leaves. Note that the fertilizer solution must be dilute, otherwise it can easily burn the roots.
2. Water amount:
Although it needs heavy fertilizer and plenty of water, at the same time you also need to note that the soil in the pot must not be allowed to accumulate water over the long term. Just keep it at a moist level. If water accumulates too frequently, it can very likely harm the plant's roots.
3. Root damage from repotting:
There is also a situation caused by not adapting, where the roots may have been damaged after repotting. At this time the plant will enter a dormant state, and we can wait for it to repair itself. Generally speaking, if you chose to repot it in winter, then it is now in a dormant state and is not likely to grow new leaves. Patiently wait until spring arrives, and then it will naturally grow new leaves. If it was not repotted in winter, then it will return to normal after one month.
