Detailed Explanation of the Cutting Method and Steps for Dipladenia

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
To propagate it by cuttings, the first thing is to pick the right time, preferably at the turn of spring and summer. Generally, select a semi-lignified branch about 20 cm long grown in the current year, cut it off, treat the wound, and insert it into the prepared medium. After that, cover it with a bag, place it at around 20°C, and maintain good humidity; it will root in about half a month.

1. Timing

For this operation, you still need to find the appropriate time. Generally, we carry out this operation in late spring and early summer, because many conditions are quite suitable in this season.

2. Branches

There is also a method for selecting the branches. Generally, we should choose semi-lignified branches grown in the current year, with a length of about 20 cm. We should immediately put it in a bag with suitable humidity for later use. Of course, it is best to use wet toilet paper or cloth to wrap its wound.

3. Scrubbing

We need to clean the cutting container, remove some of the residual substances inside, and then wash it thoroughly.

4. Medium

There are still requirements for the medium. Generally, we should choose a relatively breathable one, such as perlite and peat. Then we need to spray it wet, with moderate humidity; it does not need to be particularly wet. Generally, it is good if it can be held into a ball without falling apart. If water can be squeezed out when holding it, that still will not do.

5. Cutting

The preliminary preparations are done. The specific operation is to take the branch out of the plastic bag, then cut off the leaves below it, and then dip some rooting powder on the bottom. Of course, this needs to be done according to its usage requirements. After that, we insert the branch into the medium. One point to note is that the leaves must not touch its edge.

6. Bagging

We need to cover it with a bag, then place it at a temperature of around 20, and it needs to be in a place with diffused light. Open the bag about once or twice a day, then check the moisture content inside. If it lacks water, you can try spraying some water on it.

7. Rooting

Generally, roots can grow in about two weeks. If you want to transplant it, you still need to wait until the roots are about 8 cm long before doing so.
