How to grow a Bear's Paw (Cotyledon tomentosa) so it fills its pot? Master these care points
1. Water
If you want it to fill its pot, the moisture must be suitable. Note that it should be suitable, not as much as possible. Like many other succulents, it likewise cannot be given too much water; just enough is fine. Also, special attention is needed: when the temperature is above 35 degrees, watering must also be reduced. Otherwise, if the roots rot, how can it possibly fill its pot?
2. Light
It likes an environment with plenty of sunlight. Good light can provide a certain foundation for filling the pot. However, this is relative to mild light. If it is scorching sun, you must shade it to protect it.
3. Temperature
The suitable degree has already been mentioned above, which is around 20 degrees. Lower is no good, as it is not conducive to filling its pot; higher is likewise no good. This is because too high a temperature will make it enter dormancy, and even its growth will be very slow, let alone filling its pot.
4. Soil and fertilizer
The most important requirement is nutrition. Next, good drainage, looseness and air permeability also need to be considered. If the nutrients are not sufficiently abundant, they must be supplemented by applying fertilizer. The frequency does not need to be too high; once a month is fine, applying decomposed liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer. In this way, the speed of filling its pot may be faster.
5. Cuttings
This can speed up how quickly it fills its pot. However, it cannot be propagated by leaf cuttings; it needs stem cuttings. Remember to let them dry before inserting. In spring and autumn, it is relatively easy to succeed. After inserting, remember to water them enough. Wait for them to grow, and in this way you can speed up how quickly it fills its pot.
