Farmers' occupational accident insurance officially launches in November, with a monthly premium of 14.4 yuan covering four types of benefits

Farmers' occupational accident insurance has officially been approved. Today (the 12th), at the post-Executive Yuan meeting press conference, it was announced that farmers' occupational accident insurance will launch in November! The Council of Agriculture stated that in the current pilot stage, a single farmers' insurance insured amount is adopted, calculated at a monthly insured amount of 10,200 yuan and a premium rate of 0.23%, making the monthly premium 24 yuan, with farmers and the government bearing 60% and 40% of the premium respectively, so farmers pay 14.4 yuan per month. As long as they have farmers' insurance status, there is no age limit and they can voluntarily join farmers' occupational accident insurance. Based on the current number of farmers' insurance insured persons, the Council of Agriculture estimates that about 1.17 million farmers are eligible to enroll in farmers' occupational accident insurance.

Occupational accident insurance includes injury and illness, disability, death, and medical benefits

At present, farmers' health insurance has only three benefit items: maternity benefit, physical and mental disability benefit, and funeral allowance; after farmers' occupational accident insurance is launched in the future, injury and illness benefit, disability benefit, death benefit, medical benefit and other items will be added.

According to the Council of Agriculture's trial calculation and planning for the detailed benefit items of farmers' occupational accident insurance, farmers pay a monthly premium on an insured amount of 10,200 yuan. If a farmer indeed needs to activate injury and illness benefit due to an occupational accident, the monthly payment is 7,140 yuan in the first year and 5,100 yuan per year in the second year, with a maximum payment period of two years. As for disability benefit, the maximum payment period is 60 months, with a payment of 612,000 yuan; the minimum payment period is 1.5 months, with a payment amount of 15,300 yuan. If death benefit is to be activated, the funeral allowance is 306,000 yuan.

In addition, unlike labor insurance, which adopts a system of benefits in kind, the medical benefit item under farmers' insurance adopts a "cash system." Zhu Jianwei, director of the Counseling Division of the Council of Agriculture, stated that if farmers receive outpatient treatment or are hospitalized due to an occupational accident, they can apply to the Bureau of Labor Insurance for cash medical benefits with supporting documents.
