When Does the Yulan Magnolia Bloom? A Detailed Guide to Its Flowering Period

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Today, we may consider this plant fairly common. In the past, however, it was a highly prized ornamental plant. Take a look at its pictures, and you will surely be captivated by it. Without a doubt, the main feature we admire is its flowers. So, exactly when does it bloom?

1. The Flowering Period of This Plant

Generally speaking, it blooms mainly in the early part of spring, that is, from March to April. Compared with other flowers, it blooms after the "red plum"; its flowering period is fairly similar to those of the "redbud" and the "red-leaf ornamental peach." However, this is only an approximate period. As we all know, a plant's flowering period is related to many factors. For example, if it is grown indoors in a warm environment, it may bloom earlier. So its flowering period varies with various factors, but is generally concentrated in March and April.

2. Points to Note During the Flowering Period

(1) Temperature: Temperature comes first, of course, and a warm environment plays a very significant role in its blooming. As we mentioned above, keeping the temperature within a suitable range may make it bloom earlier and can even extend its flowering period. Specifically, keeping it at around 15 to 20°C is enough. Generally speaking, indoor temperatures are just right.

(2) Light: This is just as indispensable as the first point. This plant is itself extremely light-loving, and even more so during its flowering period, when its need for light is correspondingly greater. During its flowering period, if sufficient light cannot be guaranteed, it is very likely to produce fewer flowers, or even no flowers at all.

(3) Fertilizer: Before and after it blooms, be sure to apply some fertilizer. In February and May, that is, before and after the flowering period, a compound fertilizer should be applied about once every ten days. This way, its flowers will bloom even better.

(4) Water: This plant itself prefers moisture, and its demand will be very high during the flowering period. However, be careful not to overwater it.
