This flower is antibacterial, beautifying, and edible too; cut it once and it turns into 10 pots, more than you can handle

Aloe is a perennial succulent plant that combines edible, medicinal, ornamental, and health benefits all in one. Your aloe at home has grown so much it's overflowing the pot and there's almost no room left, so what should you do? Today Huahua will teach you the method of dividing and propagating aloe, so let's take a look!

One pot becomes ten pots; propagate aloe like this

Remove the top of the aloe:

1. If your aloe has already sent out many offsets (small aloes), then in order not to suppress the development of the offsets, you need to do a "beheading" operation.

2. Aim at the part of the top you want to cut, cut it off with a knife, and pull off 2~4 leaves from the bottom so that the top can be inserted into the soil.

3. Put the cut-off aloe top in a ventilated place to air-dry until the wound heals.

4. Pick a flower pot of suitable size, and mix garden soil, leaf mold, and river sand in a 2:1:1 ratio to prepare the potting soil.

5. Insert the air-dried aloe top into the soil, water it thoroughly, then keep the soil moist; there is no need to water too much, water once every 8~10 days, and when watering, slowly water along the edge of the pot to avoid causing the soil to compact.

6. Following the above method, the aloe top after beheading regains its growth vitality and will soon overflow the pot again, just like Sun Wukong's head, one pot becomes ten pots!

Using side shoots for cuttings:

1. Aloe is suitable for cuttings in spring and autumn; at this time it is easy for them to survive and overflow the pot.

2. Choose robust side shoots and cut them off with a knife.

3. Put the cut side shoots in a cool, ventilated place to air-dry; they cannot be inserted directly into the soil, and you must wait for the wounds to heal.

4. Insert the healed aloe side shoots into the soil, water thoroughly, and wait for them to take root and sprout.

5. Transplant the sprouted aloe into pots, and with careful maintenance you can get many pots of aloe!

Learn the aloe care bible

1. Soil. Aloe likes a loose and breathable soil environment. As we said above, for growing aloe, mixing two parts garden soil, one part leaf mold, and one part river sand together is very good.

For leaf mold, we can go to places with big trees, choose the soil under the big trees, remove the surface layer, and dig out the leaf mold underneath.

2. Watering. Aloe is a plant that is drought-tolerant and afraid of waterlogging, so it is not easy to overwater. In spring, generally water once every 8~10 days. When watering, do not pour the water directly onto the potting soil; slowly water along the edge of the flower pot to prevent the soil from compacting.

3. Temperature. Although aloe is relatively tolerant of high temperatures, that does not mean it should be left in the sun all day to bake. If the temperature is too high, aloe will enter dormancy and stop growing. If the temperature is too low, it can also cause frost damage to the aloe. The growing temperature for aloe is generally kept at 15~35 degrees.

4. Fertilizing. Spring is the growing season for aloe, and applying fertilizer can promote its growth. Normally, we can mix rice-washing water and clean water at a ratio of at least 1:20 and water the aloe with it, once every two weeks.

5. Ventilation. Now that summer is about to begin, the temperature will get higher and higher. If good ventilation cannot be maintained and the soil is too moist, the aloe will be infected with pests and diseases and is also prone to root rot. We can put the aloe on the balcony and open the window occasionally for ventilation.

What are the common aloes?

1. Curaçao aloe.

2. Aloe arborescens.

3. Chinese aloe.

4. Cape aloe.

5. Soap aloe.

Among these five kinds of aloe, the first three can be used both as food and medicine, the latter two can be used medicinally, and other aloe varieties are generally used only for ornamental purposes.

The one we use to apply on the face to remove acne is Curaçao aloe.
