How to extend the flowering period of azaleas? These care tips you need to know

It is a flowering plant, and what we want is for it to bloom longer, but its own flowering period is not super long, so at this time we can adopt certain methods to extend the flowering period. For example, we need to control its temperature within a certain range, then control the humidity it is in well. In addition, light is also necessary, and some flowers that bloom very early also need to be removed, which can extend the flowering time.

1. Temperature

We need to place it in a moderately warm place during the bud stage for care. At night it needs 10°C-15°C, and during the day it needs 18°C-25°C. In addition, if we want to force flowering, we still need to place it in a warmer place, where it needs 02°C-30°C during the day and 15°C-18°C at night. After flowering, the temperature should be lowered, to 10°C-15°C during the day and 5°C-10°C at night. Of course, environmental changes should not be too great, and cold air must not be allowed to blow directly onto it.

2. Humidity

Humidity also needs to be controlled well. This is a way to extend the flowering period. Generally, during the bud stage we should keep humidity above 70, but not above 80. At the same time, the ground should be kept moist. If necessary, use mist to humidify. In addition, if humidifying by spraying water, it is also necessary to prevent alkali buildup on the leaves.

In addition, watering is also necessary. Generally, smaller pots need it once every two or three days, while larger ones need it once every five to seven days. When watering, you cannot start from the crown; you should start directly from the pot. If some dehydrated plants have wilted leaves, then we can use the soaking method to let them absorb water. If it has already entered the flowering period, we can lower the humidity, so that the flowering period can be extended.

3. Light

We still need to let it live in a semi-shaded environment, and if the temperature is relatively high, we still need to open the vents and then keep the air clean. In addition, if it is windy, close the vents.

When the buds grow out, give it enhanced light, but at the late stage when the buds are growing larger, light should be reduced. This can also increase the length of flowering, but there is also a disadvantage, which is that the flower color will be relatively dull.

4. Removing flowers

If some flowers bloom relatively early, we should still remove the early-blooming flowers. This plays an important role in extending the period.
