How often should you water azaleas? Master the correct watering method
1. Do not water until dry
In fact, how often to water is not fixed either, because it differs in different places and different solar terms. Generally, we should water when it is dry. If you do not know how to tell whether it is dry, tap the pot; if the sound is fairly crisp, then it is dry. Of course, it cannot be too dry, otherwise its leaves may wilt.
2. The four seasons
In spring and autumn, it is in its growing period. At this time we must ensure there is enough water, especially in spring when the number of waterings should be greater, and we should also spray the leaves and the area near the ground, so that the humidity is also high.
In summer the temperature is relatively high and water evaporates relatively quickly, so we must water both morning and evening. Of course, we need to know that we cannot water at noon, because the roots may be damaged by the stimulation of cold water, and we definitely must not water only a little.
In winter, not much water is needed; just keep the soil from drying out. If too much water is given, its roots may rot, and by spring it will die.
When it is blooming, we should still water less, because too much water will still make its flowers fade early. In addition, we need to know that watering still needs to be adjusted appropriately according to the weather and so on. For example, when the weather is very hot, we should still appropriately increase the amount of water according to the temperature, and be flexible.
3. Water quality
There are also requirements for the water used. Generally, we should use slightly acidic water; alkaline water will not do, and it may make it die before long. Also, we generally use tap water with a pH below 7. If the water cannot meet the requirements, we can add some vinegar and so on to it. The water should still be left in the sun, as this can let the chlorine in it volatilize and also raise the water temperature, so that the temperature difference between the water and the soil will not be too great. In addition, this can also promote microbial activity and make the roots absorb faster.
