What are the care methods to make azaleas bloom more
1. Soil
Soil is very important to a plant's growth and development, and we had best make it meet several conditions, such as being loose and airy, and next we need to know that it rather prefers acidic soil, so we should keep its pH between 4.5 and 6. Combining the above points, we recommend using black mountain mud plus loess plus leaf mold to grow it.
Planting is generally done in spring and autumn, while potting up or repotting is done in March and April. The soil is best layered, with coarser soil at the very bottom and finer soil on top, then press it firm so the roots and soil make good contact. Repot roughly once a year, and when repotting, cut away the old roots, then water and place it in a shady spot.
2. Watering
This is also a very necessary step, because without water it definitely will not bloom. But its roots are rather weak, so if we water too much or hardly water at all, it is very likely to put the plant in a bad state, so the amount must be controlled well. If it lacks water when the leaves are unfolding, its leaves will turn yellow and may even wither and die, let alone wait for it to bloom. If it lacks water once it has bloomed, the flowers will droop and will not be bright, and besides that they may wither and die.
So we should still go by the rain and the wet or dry conditions; watering is generally done in the morning and evening, and in summer it must not be watered at noon, because if the roots touch cold water the flowers may well be harmed. The general principle is not to water when it is not dry, and once you do water, be sure to water thoroughly.
3. Fertilizing
This is also a way to make it bloom more; when it is blooming and when it grows new shoots, we should apply nitrogen fertilizer, and at this time it is generally applied once or twice, while after blooming it can be applied five or six times, so that the leaves will grow; in summer you still must not apply too much fertilizer, and you must make sure the concentration is low; fertilizing is generally combined with watering.
4. Light
Because it greatly fears strong light, we should put it in a shady spot, or build a shade awning for it, but we also cannot give it no light at all, otherwise it will certainly bloom very little.
