How to grow a Christmas kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana 'Calandiva') so it blooms continuously
1. The flowering period of this plant
Its blooming is concentrated in December. In winter, getting it to bloom continuously is relatively difficult and requires even more patience and skill.
2. Specific methods
(1) Temperature: let us first understand its suitable temperature. It is 15 to 25 degrees, a range that suits most plant varieties. If you want it to keep producing flowers without stopping, the temperature must stay within this range at all times, not higher and not lower. Do not think the higher the temperature the better; if it goes above 30 degrees, this plant will go dormant, let alone bloom.
(2) Water: this plant is a relatively drought-tolerant variety, but it is very afraid of waterlogging. Since it is in its flowering period and our goal is to keep it blooming, giving it a moderate amount of extra water is fine. However, make sure it is never excessive at any time.
(3) Fertilizer: let us focus on this aspect. Perhaps in the past we heard that this plant should not be fertilized during its flowering period. However, if you want it to bloom continuously, you have to break that rule. Still, do not make the frequency too high; once a month with a thinner fertilizer is enough. If it keeps blooming, its flowering period will last a relatively long time. This way, it will not lack nutrients later on.
(4) Light: to achieve our goal, apart from shading it appropriately at noon, let it receive as much light as possible the rest of the time.
(5) Soil: basic requirements such as being nutrient-rich and loose need no elaboration. Because of its characteristics, it needs slightly acidic soil, which helps it keep blooming.
