Care methods and precautions after repotting a clivia

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
After the beginning of spring, growers are very likely to repot their clivias. Care after repotting is very important. The most important thing is water. Right after repotting, of course you need to water thoroughly. You can use plain water, but nutrient solution works better. After about three days, resume normal watering. The second is light. Right after repotting, first place it in a shaded environment. After ten days, then give it appropriate sunlight. There is also temperature, which needs to be kept within a suitable range at all times, 15 to 20 degrees during the day and 10 to 15 degrees at night.

1. Repotting frequency

The number of repottings needs to be decided according to how long it has been grown. If it is a small seedling, generally the frequency is higher, and it can be repotted once or twice a year. If it is a mature plant, then the frequency can be lower, and repotting once every one to two years is enough.

2. Care after repotting

(1) Watering: Some people advocate not watering immediately after repotting, letting the plant adapt first, but this is actually not very scientific. After repotting, you need to water thoroughly, and this is the most scientific method. Moreover, it is not just once, but three times. That is to say, water thoroughly every day, for three days in a row. This is done to prevent stale air from damaging the roots. After three days, you can resume normal care. Because it has fleshy roots, it must never be waterlogged. You can observe the state of the soil, and water when the soil is dry or half dry.

(2) Light: Right after repotting, the plant needs to be placed in a shaded spot. This is done to reduce water evaporation and let it slowly recover its strength, which is what is called "adjusting to the pot". After about ten days, you can gradually increase the light to promote healthy growth of the plant.

(3) Temperature: This needs to be kept within a suitable range at all times. However, daytime and nighttime are different. During the day, it is best at 15 to 20 degrees; at night, it is best adjusted to 10 to 15 degrees. Temperature has a great influence on the plant's recovery and its entry into a normal growth state, so it needs to be managed carefully.
