Reasons Why Michelia figo Does Not Bloom and Solutions
1. Temperature
(1) Specific reason: First, we need to understand that this plant's flowering period is around March, that is, early spring. Therefore, the temperature during this period is relatively not too high. So, if left to nature, the temperature may be too low for it to bloom.
(2) Solution: If the natural temperature does not meet the requirement, then we need to promote flowering through artificial warming methods. For example, move it into a warm room, or place it near a heat source.
2. Nutrients
(1) Specific reason: The entire flowering period consumes far more nutrients than usual. Sometimes, what the plant has accumulated itself and drawn from the soil is not enough to meet the requirement, which can easily prevent it from blooming.
(2) Solution: If this is the reason, then we need to find a way to supplement nutrients. Generally, to promote flowering and improve the quality of the blooms, we choose to apply some fertilizer containing more phosphorus before its flowering period.
3. Light
(1) Specific reason: We all know that light is also an essential aspect for a plant to bloom. So, if it stays in a very dark place for a long time, it can easily fail to bloom. Even if it does bloom, the number will be very small.
(2) Solution: Observe whether the location of the plant has too little light. If it is very weak, then adjust its position in time. Generally, light that is not too intense is fine. To avoid trouble, you can find a place with scattered light.
