What to do when Murraya paniculata (orange jasmine) has root rot? Teach you the correct way to handle it
1. Disinfecting the roots
After discovering that the plant has root rot, you should first knock it out of the pot. Then, rinse the mud off its roots with tap water. Then, cut off the rotten roots. For the remaining leaves and aged branches, it is best to cut them off as well. Then, put it in a potassium permanganate solution to soak for about one hour. Then take it out and let it dry.
2. Replanting
The choice of soil has a big influence. It is best to choose a mix of pond mud, river sand, and vegetable garden soil. Before the formal planting, it is best to put the soil under the sun to dry, which helps with sterilization. Note that when planting, you need to place some screened river sand near its roots, about one cm thick. Doing this allows the soil to better bind with the roots, which helps it recover and continue growing. After that, just place it in a spot with appropriate shade.
3. Later-stage management
The water supply is very important. Watering at the roots should not be too much and must be strictly controlled. Generally, keeping it to one to two times a week is enough. Note, do not use rainwater. However, you can spray water on its leaves four to five times a day. And, every week you also need to spray some vitamin solution. After about one week, you need to put it in a sunny spot and let it sun for about one hour. After that, after about one month or forty days, it can fully recover and regain its vitality.
