Can a potted yew (Taxus) be kept in the bedroom?
I. Whether it can be placed there
It can be kept in the bedroom.
Normally, the yew continuously absorbs CO2 throughout the day and then releases a beneficial gas. This gas not only purifies the air in our rooms and kills some bacteria, but is also extremely good for the human body. When the human body inhales this gas, it can strengthen one's own constitution and prevent illness, thus greatly benefiting people's health. At the same time, keeping it in a room can also drive away some mosquitoes and insects, and the higher the indoor temperature, the better the insect-repelling effect.
II. How to grow it in the bedroom
1. Appropriate fertilizer
The yew is most afraid of chemical fertilizers, so be sure not to use this kind of fertilizer when fertilizing. Generally, some organic fertilizers such as cake fertilizer can be applied appropriately, and when applying them, be careful not to let them get close to its roots; instead, apply them as much as possible along the edge of the pot.
2. Appropriate light
The yew generally prefers shady places, so if it is kept in the bedroom, do not place it at the air conditioner's air outlet or under the radiator. In addition, in the hot summer, to avoid it being exposed to strong light, it should be placed in a backlit spot in the bedroom as much as possible, so as to effectively prevent the plant from being sunburned.
3. Appropriate watering
Water it appropriately. Usually water it once every 20 to 25 days. If you water too frequently, its roots will gradually rot until it dies. The reason many yews kept in bedrooms easily die is mostly too much water, so we must be careful when adding water for it.
