Add this to the pot, and it will still thrive without repotting for 10 years
Is repotting really necessary?
If the plant is healthy and the pot is suitable, generally there's no need to repot. Repotting is very likely to harm the plant, and if you're not careful, it won't survive the adjustment period.
The image below shows two plants in one pot before repotting
The image below shows after repotting, with leaves damaged during the process, and the plant barely alive
Since repotting carries risks, what methods can make plants grow more and more vigorously without repotting? Huahua will tell you now~
Add some sand to prevent soil compaction
Every six months to a year, the soil in the pot becomes hard and dry, which is not good for the plant to absorb oxygen, water, and nutrients.
The image below shows a plant in compacted soil, clearly looking nutrient-deficient
To avoid soil compaction, you can put water-draining, breathable sand at the bottom of the pot
Outdoor sand may carry bacteria and insect eggs, so you can soak it in carbendazim for about 20 minutes
After drying it in the sun, add some peanut shells or nut shells and spread them together at the bottom of the pot
Continue adding soil and the plant
Finally, spread another layer of sand on the surface of the pot
Besides sand, clay pellets, loofah sponges, nut shells, etc. can all be placed at the bottom of the pot
Use eggshells as fertilizer
As the plant keeps growing, the nutrients in the soil become fewer and fewer. At this time, adding some eggshells, peanut shells, sunflower seed shells, etc. can supplement nutrients such as calcium, nitrogen, and phosphoric acid
Rinse the eggshells and dry them in the sun
Crush the eggshells; the finer they are, the easier they are to decompose and absorb
Dig a shallow trench near the plant
Pour the crushed eggshells in
Then cover them with soil
Water a little, and wait for Huahua to grow strong and healthy~
Peanut shells can also be used following the steps above
Use soybean water and rice water as fertilizer
Tiny eggshells are not a universal miracle cure; the most effective thing is liquid fertilizer you can pour on! So what's good to use?
Soybean water: soak raw soybeans in a plastic bottle for 3-4 weeks until decomposed. When watering, mix a ladle of clear water with a few spoonfuls of it to make the leaves thicker and more emerald green.
Fermented rice water: put it in a plastic bottle and leave it in the sun for a week. The fermented rice water is acidic, so it can be used to water camellias, Aglaia odorata, gardenias, and rhododendrons!
Use fruit peels and leftover rice as fertilizer
For plants severely lacking nutrients, we must play our trump card: homemade all-purpose tonic fertilizer, guaranteed to make it thrive like crazy!
Fruit fertilizer: leftover fruit will do; here watermelon rind is used, chopped up
Mix it with the flower soil; the mixture really looks a bit ugly
After mixing, seal it up; here Huahua used a disposable takeout container
The weather is fairly warm now, so after fermenting for just over a month it becomes fertilizer. Just mix it into flower pots that need fertilizing, but don't add too much at once~
Leftover rice fertilizer: make use of kitchen leftovers and pour them into the soil
Stir evenly
Put it in a plastic bag and tie it tightly
It takes 1-2 months for the fertilizer to be ready. Because the nutrients are relatively high, mix it in according to the plant's specific condition. You can't get fat in one bite, or it will be burned to death by the fertilizer
Alright
