Can you water gardenias with beer? Understand these points before watering
1. Reasons
① Nutrients
Generally speaking, beer is brewed from grains through fermentation, so it contains large amounts of sugar, amino acids and other beneficial substances, some of which can be directly absorbed and used by the roots of this flower, so it can be used to water it. In addition, beer also contains a large amount of CO2, which volatilizes and disperses into the air around the plant, raising the CO2 concentration; this can effectively increase the flower's photosynthetic efficiency and speed up nutrient accumulation.
② Improving the soil environment
Using beer for watering can improve the soil conditions, making the soil more suitable for the flower's growth and helping the roots better absorb nutrients from the soil, so that it grows better. In addition, applying beer watering appropriately before budding can also promote flowering.
2. How to use
① Watering
Beer can be used for watering, but before use we need to dilute it; the best dilution ratio is 1:50. It must never be too concentrated, otherwise it will not only fail to help the flower grow but will instead harm its roots and slow its growth. The watering method is similar to water; just pour it in at a certain distance from the plant's main stem.
② Spraying
Beer can also be used for spraying the flower, but before use we likewise need to dilute it, with the ratio kept at about 1:10. You can spray it about every seven days; it not only increases humidity but also raises the CO2 concentration, killing two birds with one stone.
③ Deodorizing
The deodorizing mentioned here does not refer to the flower, but to flower fertilizer. Many flower fertilizers have a very strong smell that many flower growers cannot stand. At this time, we can add 5% beer to the flower fertilizer, shake it evenly, and then let it sit. Before long, the smell of the flower fertilizer will dissipate, and we can use it better!
3. Precautions
① It must not be too concentrated
Because beer contains a large amount of alcohol, once the plant's roots are soaked in a high-concentration solution of this substance for a long time, they are very likely to rot.
② Reduce fertilizing
Because beer contains a lot of salt, if we use beer and still apply flower fertilizer at the normal amount, it is very likely to cause the nutrient concentration in the soil to become too high, hindering its growth.
