Beginner gardeners, or those with no gardening experience at all, always want to find flowers that are both easy to grow and easy to care for, but after searching high and low they still can't find one that truly satisfies them. So today, the editor will introduce a flower that is especially easy to grow and especially easy to care for. Whether you grow it in soil or in water, it will thrive wherever you toss it, and you'll never have to worry about failing to grow it well or killing it.

Many people are familiar with pennywort (Hydrocotyle vulgaris); it is a foliage plant best suited to beginners and can be grown in soil or in water. I remember that the spring before last, when I was repotting my pennywort, I casually tossed a rather poor-looking pennywort plant beside a ditch, and by autumn it had grown into many pennywort plants, and they were growing very vigorously, which is enough to prove the tough vitality of pennywort. There are several ways to care for pennywort: soil culture, water culture, and half-soil half-water culture. Each of these three methods has its own advantages and disadvantages. But for growing it at home, water culture or half-soil half-water culture is better, first because you don't have to worry about how much to water it, which saves time, and second because it looks clean, hygienic and attractive.

Some gardening friends may ask whether water culture is better or half-water half-soil culture is better. If you want it to look more attractive and beautiful, you can simply use a glass bottle filled with clean water to grow it. If you want it to grow fast, use half-water half-soil culture, which is also the fastest way to make pennywort grow. If conditions allow, you can buy some colored stones and put them in the glass bottle, which will make it look even more beautiful.

The method for growing pennywort with half-soil half-water culture is very simple. First find a watertight container, spread a layer of soil or sand on the bottom, place the pennywort on top of the soil layer, then add another layer of soil, just enough to cover the roots, not too much, then spread a layer of colored stones or clay pebbles over the roots to hold the roots in place and keep the soil from floating up. Finally add clean water, and place it in a spot with half shade and half sun and good ventilation to grow for a period of time. Once it is truly growing, gradually give it plenty of light. But at noon on hot summer days, it still needs appropriate shading; at other times, do not shade it. During care, give it plenty of light, do not let it lack water, fertilize it in moderation, and change the water after a long time. As long as you remember these things, it will grow more and more vigorously.
