What to Do About Curling Leaves on Gardenia? Find the Cause and Treat It Accordingly
1. Overwatering
This is the most likely cause. Normally we need to water it, but do not keep watering it just because it likes moist growing conditions. Because once too much water is added, the excess water cannot be absorbed or evaporated, and it easily accumulates in the potting soil as standing water. Once standing water appears in the potting soil, it may rot its root system. Once its roots have problems, they cannot normally absorb water and nutrients from the potting soil. Without water and nutrient supply, the leaves may develop curled edges.
Solution: This requires us to adopt different treatment methods depending on whether the symptoms are severe or not. If the situation is relatively serious and most of the leaves have begun to curl, we need to take the whole plant out of the potting soil, use scissors to cut off all the already rotted and blackened roots, then replant it in the pot and place it in a shady spot for two days to recover; if the situation is relatively mild, we can directly place it in a ventilated spot to dry out the potting soil.
2. Too Much Light
If it is placed in a spot with too much light for a long time, its leaves may also develop curled edges because they cannot withstand such strong light.
Solution: This situation is relatively easy to solve. First place it in a shady spot, then cut off the leaves with severe curling, and sprinkle some chemicals on the wounds to disinfect them. After it recovers, gradually increase the intensity and duration of light until it matches normal care methods.
3. Pests and Diseases
In addition to the above two causes, this cause can also lead to curled leaves.
Solution: First determine exactly what disease it has, then go buy the corresponding chemicals and spray them for treatment.
