Bougainvillea flowering period management methods and precautions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
The management of its flowering period is divided into two stages: before flowering and during flowering. Before flowering, pay attention to watering it normally and fertilizing heavily; you can use chemicals to promote the formation of flower buds. During flowering, give it enough water and fertilizer so that it can grow more dense flowers and the flowering days can last longer.

I. Early-stage management before flowering

1. It likes warm areas with water, is not very resistant to severe cold, and likes sufficient light. In the south, it usually flowers in winter and spring; in the north, if cultivated in a greenhouse, it usually flowers from March to July.

2. You can begin water control management for it in mid-August, for about one month. By mid-September it can grow flowers. If you want it to bloom again at National Day, you need to resume watering and fertilizing it in mid-September.

3. In mid-October, resume normal watering for it, then give it heavy fertilization. When flower buds appear, sprinkle a little paclobutrazol on it. This chemical can help its flower buds grow more numerous and better. The inflorescence will also not grow too long, and the flowers will be more beautiful and denser.

4. The number of flower buds also affects how dense the flowering is. If you want to promote its differentiation, you must not let the leaves drop, but every day let the leaves droop for half a day, and keep this up for about one month. During this period, the leaves may turn pale, but as long as the healthy leaves do not drop, there is no need to worry.

II. Mid-stage management during flowering

If you want it to bloom very vigorously, besides pre-flowering care, management during flowering is also very important.

1. From when the flowers begin to open until they are in full bloom, a large amount of fertilizer needs to be applied. Because it has relatively many flowers, if they are all to bloom, it will certainly need a lot of fertilizer. Only with sufficient water and fertilizer can the flowers bloom densely, become more vivid the more they bloom, and the flowering period can also be longer, blooming for more than one month.

2. The degree of water control also affects the number of flowers. It cannot do without water, and fertilizer also needs water to dissolve and be transported. If it lacks water, it is prone to dropping flowers.

3. December is relatively cold, but as long as the temperature is not below 5 degrees, the flowers will still slowly bloom. Therefore, the temperature needs to be adjusted to keep it above 5°C.
