Why are carnation leaves curling and what should be done?
1. Disease problems
(1) Specific cause: This is the most likely cause. There is a disease called "rust disease." It is a fungal disease. It mainly affects the leaf area. When first infected, the leaves develop yellow-brown spots, and then these spots bulge out and their color also darkens. If the plant has this disease, not only will the above symptoms appear, but leaf curling is also very likely to occur.
(2) Solution: If it has the disease, we first need to remove all the diseased leaves to avoid affecting the others. Then we need to spray some chemicals, such as triadimefon solution. Once every five days to a week, two or three times in a row is enough.
2. Light problems
(1) Specific cause: For the plant to grow healthily, sunlight is essential. However, if the light is too strong, or the duration of continuous light is too long, some problems may also occur. For example, you may find that the leaves become curled.
(2) Solution: If this is the cause, then we need to adjust the intensity and duration of light. Usually, just place it in a spot where it can receive scattered light. Do not make it too shady, and the light must not be too strong either. Doing this may help ease the leaf curling.
3. Fertilizer problems
(1) Specific cause: Improper fertilizing is also a possible cause. First, too much was applied; second, the fertilizer was not fermented. Both situations are possible.
(2) Solution: Limit the fertilizer applied, and do not make the concentration too high. In addition, apply fermented fertilizer.
