When is the best time to sow cosmos?
I. When to plant
Planting in early spring is best, so it will bloom in May of that same year, and by August the blooming is almost completely over. After the autumn cool arrives, it can then bloom again, and the flowering period will last until the first frost. If you choose to plant it in August, it will not bloom until October, and at that time the plant will still look extremely small and will not be attractive to admire. From this it can be seen that the most suitable planting time is in early spring.
II. How to sow
1. Preparation of seeds and potting soil
First, put the seeds you have obtained in a small plastic bag, then place it in a cool, dry place, so the seeds are less likely to spoil. After that, prepare a flowerpot of just the right size, then choose suitable garden soil and put it inside. When the sowing season arrives, you can plant the seeds in it.
2. Sowing
Scatter the prepared seeds one by one into the potting soil, then cover them with a thin layer of soil to prevent the seeds from being washed away during later watering. Next, water thoroughly, then place the flowerpot in a cool place and wait peacefully for it to sprout.
3. Later care
During care, if the temperature is kept at 15°C, it will sprout relatively easily, usually in one week. After sprouting, we can place the flowerpot in a bright place, but strong direct light must not be allowed to hit it; it is best to let it slowly adapt to the light. After that, water and fertilize it, and remember not to use too much, to prevent affecting root growth. In the later stage, it should also be pinched back appropriately, so it can bloom more.
