Hydrangea cutting propagation method: cut one branch and grow ten pots, raise them indoors without spending a penny

The ethereal hydrangea is truly a delight to the eyes, and not only is it beautiful, it is also very easy to grow! Today Huahua will teach everyone!

Hydrangea propagation

Propagating hydrangeas is very simple. Whether you plant them directly, divide them, or take cuttings, as long as you keep them warm and moist, they will quickly develop and grow.

Division method: If a friend or neighbor has a mature hydrangea, this is very easy. Spring is the hydrangea propagation season, and mature hydrangeas will produce many small plantlets:

1. Find a mature hydrangea that has offshoots

In spring, hydrangeas sprout from the roots, and each little new life clusters together

2. Carefully dig out the newly sprouted small shoots, trying not to break the roots

3. Plant them into flower pots using loose, breathable soil. As long as you keep it moist (just make sure the surface of the potting soil does not turn pale), no sun exposure is needed, and then just wait for the small seedlings to grow rapidly!

Cutting method: Flower lovers who do not have a mature hydrangea nearby need not worry, just one hydrangea stem is enough.

1. Cut off the flower stem, about the length of a palm

2. Hydrangea leaves are large and consume nutrients, so we cut off half of the leaves to preserve nutrients

3. This is enough, with the leaves facing up

4. Insert into the soil and wait for rooting. Common soils such as loose, airy sandy gravel soil, bamboo leaf soil, coconut coir mixed with ordinary garden soil, or general leaf mold all work. Hydrangeas like moisture, so you can put a plastic bag over the flower pot to keep it warm and moist.

With a plastic bag over it, a tiny greenhouse is built

5. During this process, you can add some rooting powder to ensure faster rooting

6. Rooting takes about 8-15 days

7. After rooting, plant each one separately into a flower pot, with the potting soil still mainly loose

Watering hydrangeas

Hydrangea leaves and flowers are both fairly large, so you need to water them thoroughly. If you see hydrangea leaves drooping and looking listless, it is time to water. Hydrangeas love to drink water, and after watering they will quickly regain their vitality.

You can also use a small spray bottle to mist them normally, making them look even prettier.

Light for hydrangeas

Hydrangeas really are good little babies. Just put them in a corner of the balcony or a place indoors with average light. They like shade and do not need too much sunlight. Harsh sun exposure will only make them dry out, shrivel, and get sick.

Put them in a shaded spot for just a little sun

Or place them on an enclosed balcony to air out

Do not expose them to too much harsh sun

Hydrangeas are so well-behaved that they can be grown in a study, bedroom, or office!

Unexpected situations

Some flower lovers ask, why are my hydrangea leaves curling up?

Curling leaves are because the soil is too rich. The hydrangea has too many nutrients. Just do not add any more fertilizer later on. If it is serious, quickly change the soil.

Then why does a hydrangea look listless?

A listless hydrangea is either sunburned, or not watered enough, or watered too much. Just discover it in time and deal with it in time.

What causes yellowing leaves?

Yellowing leaves may be a soil problem, and it can also be solved by changing the soil.

Hydrangea color changes

The same hydrangea may show several color changes, and this is one of the charms of hydrangeas. So what exactly causes hydrangeas to change color?

It is very normal for hydrangea flowers to change color. Acidic soil produces blue, while strongly alkaline soil produces red. Green, purple, and pink hydrangea flowers are due to unstable soil acidity and alkalinity.

Here are a few little tips to change flower color for everyone:

1. Like blue-green toned hydrangeas?

Add a little vinegar before the hydrangea forms buds. Just a tiny bit dissolved in the watering water is enough. This makes the flower soil acidic, and then it can produce blue flowers.

2. Like red hydrangeas?

Then sprinkle a little plant ash into the flower soil before bud formation to make the soil alkaline, and then it can produce red hydrangea flowers.

Hydrangeas are so rich and beautiful

Flower lovers, do not shy away from them
