This article is one of Lanyao's original theories

Excerpt from the "Three-Step Method for Growing Roses" series

In yesterday's article, Lanyao said that fish gut fertilizer water is very good for roses, as it is rich in phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and is very beneficial for rose bud formation.

So how should fish gut fertilizer water be made?

Today Lanyao will talk about the homemade method for fish gut fertilizer water. Fish gut fertilizer water can only be made at home; there is nowhere you can buy it, so if you want it, you have to do it yourself.

How to make fish gut fertilizer water:

The method for making fish gut fertilizer water is very simple, so simple that you just put the fish guts into a container, add water, and let it ferment for about half a year.

But the process of fermenting fish gut fertilizer water often produces a very strong odor. It can literally be described as stinking unbearable.

If you use this kind of strongly odorous fertilizer water on your balcony at home, I believe that not only your flowers, but even you yourself will be disliked by your family.........

So how can you ferment fish gut fertilizer water without it stinking?

If you want fish gut fertilizer water not to stink, we need to use a little auxiliary ingredient to help speed up the fermentation of the fish guts and completely decompose them.

Specific making method:

1. First, go to the vegetable market and ask the fish seller for some fish guts and fish scales.

2. Prepare a few large plastic buckets. You can use salad oil buckets, or other buckets with lids, but remember they must be plastic.

3. If you have yogurt at home, you can contribute 1-2 bottles. If not, go to the supermarket and buy two packets of fermentation agent, which is the yeast used for making steamed buns. (This is Lanyao's rather stingy formula; those with money to spare can directly buy EM microbial enzyme.)

4. Put the fish guts into the bottle, add the yogurt (yeast or EM microbes) to water, then put it into the plastic bottle.

5. Put the lid on the plastic bottle, but remember not to screw it too tight. You can leave it a little loose, loose enough to let air escape. This is to prevent you from forgetting to open the lid and release the gas. Then put it in a warm place, or just toss it into a corner outside to sunbathe.

In this way, when the temperature is high, after fermenting for about half a year before use, there will not be much odor. If making it in winter, it is best to wait until autumn before using it, to be safer.

Regularly feeding your roses fish gut fertilizer water can make them not only grow lushly, but more importantly, bloom more and with vivid colors.

If your roses are planted in the ground, then you do not need to go to all this trouble. Lanyao will teach you an even simpler method.

How do you feed fish gut fertilizer to ground-planted roses?

Lanyao has said that the coldest season of the year is also the best time to apply raw fertilizer to roses!

So rose growers with ground-planted roses can choose to bury fish guts for your roses in winter.

Dig a hole 20-30cm away from the rose roots, put the fish guts directly in, and cover with soil. By spring, the fish guts will have finished fermenting and can be absorbed and used by the roses.

This is the simplest method of applying fish gut fertilizer, but note:

If the lowest temperature in your area is above 10 degrees all year round, it is recommended not to bury fish guts directly, as there will be a certain risk. If you do bury them, keep them away from the roots.

Now that we understand the use and making methods of water-soluble fertilizer and organic liquid fertilizer, next we should make a fertilizing plan for our roses.

Only by making a good fertilizing plan and finding the right timing for fertilization can you get twice the result with half the effort. Tomorrow Lanyao will continue sharing how to make a fertilizing plan for roses, so please keep following.
