Tomatoes are a very easy plant to grow, and their sweet-and-sour taste is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Below, we'll show you how to grow tomatoes hanging upside down from the ceiling, with a few adjustments, it looks really stylish!

(Flowers on top of the pot, tomatoes below, two benefits in one)

1. Prepare the hooks

Tomatoes need a ventilated spot with plenty of sunlight to grow, so hanging them on a south-facing balcony or terrace is more suitable; set up some sturdy hooks.

2. Choose small tomato plants

Choose dwarf tomato varieties, such as cherry tomatoes; it's best to buy from your local agricultural supply store so you get varieties suited to local growing conditions.

3. Prepare a suitable container

Prepare some large-capacity plastic bottles or buckets; the example here is a plastic bottle of over 2L. Remove the cap, cut the bottle in two, punch holes with a sharp tool, thread a rope through, and it's ready to use.

4. Remove the tomato seedling from its pot

Lift the tomato seedling out with a trowel, being careful not to damage the roots.

5. Plant the tomato seedling

Place the seedling upside down into the hole at the bottom, first add a layer of sphagnum moss on top, then slowly add soil (fertile, loose soil), filling only 1/8 of the way.

After planting, water thoroughly, then you can hang the potted tomato on the prepared hooks for care.

6. Water regularly

Watering is also fairly simple; you can buy a curved-spout tube, which makes watering very easy. Once planted, do not move the potted tomato around.

Water thoroughly each time until water drips from the bottom, which is easy to see.

This method works for most plants; give them plenty of sunlight and water, and growing upside down is not difficult. You must choose sturdy seedlings to succeed.

7. Works from fellow gardeners

A self-watering hanging planter made from an oil drum, with upside-down tomatoes that have already started forming flower buds.

Growing cherry tomatoes this way is also worth trying. The tomatoes grow downward, so be careful not to let pets damage them, and make sure not to place anything else below.
