Rice water really can become an excellent fertilizer for flowers, but it must be used correctly and on the right occasions. If the environment is suitable, plants won't easily die no matter what you do to them. Let's take a look below at whether rice water needs to be fermented before being used to water flowers.

1. The influence of the environment

If your growing environment is especially well ventilated and you have a small garden, then you can try using fermented rice water to water your flowers. Fully fermented rice water has a very foul smell, so it is not suitable for indoor cultivation, and even a balcony or terrace is not suitable either.

Some flower growers say that putting some lemon peel into sealed rice water eliminates the bad smell. In fact, it is still there, just slightly weaker.

2. The influence of the plants:

If they are small seedlings or plants that were recently transplanted, then it is not suitable to water them directly with rice water, otherwise the plants can easily be burned.

The fermentation process of rice water is very simple. It just needs a sealed environment, and you can use a plastic bottle, then place it in a warm spot. The fermentation process can be completed in 2~3 weeks.

For plants that are growing relatively vigorously, you can just mix rice water with a little clean water and pour it directly onto the soil. It also needs a well-ventilated environment for fertilizing to be ideal.

3. Notes on using rice water:

Many flower growers pour rice water directly onto the soil. Rice water is generally made directly with tap water, and using this kind of heavy water over the long term can easily make the soil compact, and in severe cases make the soil alkaline.

Rice water that has finished fermenting also cannot be used directly to water flowers, because no flower can withstand that. At this point you need to dilute it with clean water; only after the rice water is diluted with water and then used to water flowers can it become a beneficial and harmless fertilizer

With successfully fermented rice water, you only need to pour a small amount into new rice water, shake it evenly, and the new bottle can be used in five days. Large flowers and plants can be watered directly at the roots, while small plants should be diluted with water before use.
