Kalanchoe, camellia, and clivia: use this trick and the flowers will bloom like a waterfall
Kalanchoe
1. Insufficient light
Kalanchoe loves plenty of light. Some flower lovers worry that placing it on the balcony will freeze the plant, so they keep it indoors for a long time. A kalanchoe lacking light grows thin and weak, let alone blooms.
Trick: Make sure it gets at least four hours of light every day. At the same time, to help the kalanchoe grow evenly and produce beautiful flowers, you can regularly turn the pot's direction.
2. Improper use of fertilizer
Plenty of fertilizer is a necessary condition for kalanchoe to grow and bloom. So some flower lovers give the kalanchoe a large amount of fertilizer all at once, only to outsmart themselves. These highly concentrated nutrients are hard for the flower to absorb, and a kalanchoe cared for this way will not only fail to bloom, but will instead develop yellowing leaves.
Trick: During the growing period, mainly apply nitrogen fertilizer to make the plant grow strong; before flowering, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flower bud differentiation, such as fish emulsion and monopotassium phosphate.
Clivia
1. The flowering period has not yet arrived
It takes three to four years for a clivia to grow from a seedling to its flowering period. If your flower has not grown up yet, don't be impatient~
Trick: Care for it carefully and wait quietly for it to bloom.
2. Insufficient sunlight
Clivia is a shade-loving plant. So some flower lovers are unwilling to let the flower see sunlight, leaving it in a lightless environment for a long time, and of course it is impossible to expect the clivia to bloom.
Trick: Plenty of light is one of the conditions for clivia to bloom. But you must note that harsh sun exposure in summer will harm the clivia, so be sure to provide some shade protection.
3. Not changing the soil for a long time
Some flower lovers ask: my flower has been growing for four or five years, so it should be blooming by now - why hasn't it? Huahua wants to ask, have you thought carefully about whether you have ever changed the soil for your clivia? Do you fertilize regularly? If you don't repot for years and don't fertilize regularly, the nutrients in the soil will become fewer and fewer, and it will be very hard for the clivia to grow healthily.
Trick: Change the soil for the clivia and add organic fertilizer to the new soil, such as peanut or sunflower seeds at the bottom of the pot. Qingming is coming soon, and this is a good time to repot your clivia.
Christmas cactus
1. Too many hours of light
Christmas cactus likes short daylight. Some flower lovers keep the Christmas cactus on the balcony for a long time and take no shading measures. With long hours of strong light, it is very difficult to get the Christmas cactus to bloom.
Trick: Put the Christmas cactus indoors and take it out for light at set times. Or cover the pot with black film to reduce strong light exposure.
2. Unsuitable temperature
The suitable growing temperature for Christmas cactus is above 15°C, and its flowering period is from October to February of the following year. During this time, the outdoor temperature is generally low, which is not suitable for the Christmas cactus to form flower buds.
Trick: During this period, keep the Christmas cactus indoors, and you must make sure the indoor temperature reaches above 15°C.
Camellia
1. Insufficient humidity
Camellia likes a humid, cool environment. Flower lovers in the north do not understand the habits of camellia and do not pay attention to spraying water in time to maintain the air humidity around the camellia.
Trick: In winter and spring, place the camellia, pot and all, in a south-facing spot so it can receive sunlight. Be careful to spray the camellia with water on time to maintain the air humidity around it, and after 10 a.m. is a more suitable time. In the hot summer, you need to sprinkle water on the ground around the camellia every day to raise the air humidity.
2. Unsuitable temperature
The suitable temperature during the camellia's bud stage is 10-15°C, and its full flowering period is from January to March. But winter and spring often bring cold waves, the temperature is unstable, and overly low temperatures can cause cold damage to the camellia, which is not good for flower bud formation.
Trick: During the day, place the flower in a warm spot with plenty of light; after the temperature drops in the evening, move it indoors to prevent cold damage.
Gardenia
1. Improper use of water and fertilizer
When growing gardenia, if you apply large amounts of water and fertilizer, it is easy to make the plant grow only branches and leaves without blooming.
Trick: During the flower bud differentiation stage, pay attention to applying more flower fertilizer rich in phosphorus and potassium
2. Light problems
Gardenia does not like strong light, but too weak sunlight will also affect the gardenia's blooming. So suitable light is what is most favorable for the gardenia to bloom.
Trick: In summer, place the gardenia indoors to avoid strong light; in winter, place the gardenia in a spot with stronger light.
