Can sunflowers be kept in the bedroom? Indoor growing tips
1. Whether it can be placed in the bedroom
It is a fairly common flower at flower markets. Its color looks very warm and full of vitality, giving people a very cozy feeling. Of course it can be placed in the bedroom. It not only adds other bright colors to our bedroom, but the atmosphere also feels even better.
But we must pay attention to ventilation and not keep it too enclosed, because ordinary varieties can grow to more than two meters tall, so many friends think the bedroom cannot fit it. But now there is a variety, a relatively short plant, that can be grown at home. However, because it is a sun-loving flower, if it is kept indoors for a long time, it will grow leggy, the leaves will turn yellow, and no flowers will grow, so it is best to place it in a spot with relatively good light.
2. How to care for it
1. Sunlight
It can grow to more than 3 meters tall and can live for one year. It belongs to the genus Helianthus, and it consists of five parts: root, stem, leaf, flower and fruit. It loves sunlight very much, and its seedlings, leaves and flowers are all very phototropic. If there is enough sun, its seedlings can grow very sturdy and will not grow leggy.
Only by giving it plenty of sunlight during its growing period can its stems and leaves grow well, and only then can it produce flowers and bear fruit. After the flowers fade, with plenty of sunlight, the fruit will be plump.
2. Soil
The most suitable time to plant it is in March or April. It needs a lot of soil, so when choosing a flowerpot it is best to have a diameter of more than 30 cm. The seedlings in the pot should not be spaced too closely together, otherwise there will not be enough room for growth. It very much loves sunlight. Once the seedlings and leaves have emerged, be sure to place it in an area with relatively plenty of sunlight, otherwise it will affect the opening of its flowers.
