Reasons Why Bougainvillea Does Not Sprout and the Correct Way to Handle It
1. Temperature problems
(1) Specific cause: As we said above, this plant is native to the tropics. So it needs a relatively warm environment. Specifically, the suitable temperature for its growth is around 15 to 30°C. However, it also varies with the change of seasons. From May to September, when growth is fast, it is 19 to 30°C. From October to April of the following year, it is 13 to 16°C.
(2) Solution: If it is a temperature problem, then we have to "treat the disease accordingly." For the various provinces in the south, open-field cultivation is fine. However, for the more northerly regions, the temperature conditions generally cannot reach the requirement. Therefore, it must be grown in a greenhouse. If it is potted, then when the temperature is low, it must be moved indoors in time. No matter where it is grown, try to keep the temperature within the range suitable for it.
2. Root damage after transplanting
(1) Specific cause: This situation refers to plants that have just been transplanted. We all know that during transplanting, the roots of the plant are easily damaged. If they are damaged, then it may also temporarily fail to sprout.
(2) Solution: Adjust the environment around it and place it in a bright, well-ventilated spot, such as a balcony. As for watering, remember to water when the soil has dried out completely. In addition, you can also spray some water on the leaves.
3. Watering problems
(1) Specific cause: Although it relatively prefers moisture, it still cannot be watered too much. If there is excessive water, then the roots may rot from being soaked for a long time. Then, naturally, it will not sprout.
(2) Solution: If this is the case, then the amount of watering must be adjusted. It itself is relatively drought-tolerant, so just water after the soil has dried out completely.
