Want your pothos to stay green? These are the things you need to learn to say no to

Because of its large leaves, thick texture, crystal-clear deep green color, pale yellow markings, plus its smooth, upright, elegant and graceful appearance, pothos has become an outstanding choice for indoor greenery decoration.
But here comes the problem: why do so many plant lovers end up with yellowing leaves on their pothos and just cannot grow it well? Actually, it is because plant lovers do not know how to say "no." Yes, to keep your pothos green, you need to boldly say "no."
Pothos is a versatile foliage plant, and it is favored by people for its leaf colors. If cared for properly, pothos can even be used as a wall decoration, climbing up on its own to form an interesting green picture. So, how should you say "no" to your pothos?
1. Do not let it have insufficient light
Pothos comes in two types: green-leaf and variegated-leaf. Variegated pothos is greatly affected by light, which not only influences the size of the leaves, the leaf color and the coordination of stem and leaf growth, but also affects the formation of its colorful patterns.
Pothos likes to grow under relatively bright light conditions, showing robust plants, large leaves, vivid and glossy leaf color. If light is insufficient for a long time, the fresh leaf color and gorgeous markings will disappear or fade.
Therefore, plant lovers must say "no" to insufficient light. When caring for pothos, maintain 8-10 hours of scattered light or artificial light every day to keep the beautiful leaf form.
2. Do not apply improper fertilizer
Pothos, as a foliage plant, has a certain proportional requirement for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. For most foliage plants, the most suitable nutrient condition is a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium ratio of 2.5:1:2.3. Therefore, during cultivation, do not only apply nitrogen fertilizer while ignoring the supply of other nutrients, otherwise the branches and leaves will grow excessively and the markings will decrease or disappear.
Therefore, for pothos to overwinter, plant lovers should apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer in autumn to increase the sugar content in the plant and help it overwinter safely. At ordinary times, just supply the nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium ratio that pothos needs.
3. Do not let it mutate
During the care of pothos, bud mutation may occur. The biggest characteristic of bud mutation is: among the buds sprouting from the same batch, some have markings while the mutated ones do not, or the lower part of the branch has markings while the markings on the new buds at the upper part disappear. At this time, plant lovers just need to promptly cut off the mutated part.
