Spring is here, the perfect season for everything to grow, and even the pests in your flower pots are planning an all-out attack, ready to gnaw your plants to death at any moment. Today, Huahua teaches you to add something every household has to your watering water, which can kill pests, prevent pests, and won't pollute the environment either! Come see what great methods there are!

Garlic water

The most common garlic contains allicin, which has very strong sterilizing power, making it absolutely a little ace at killing pests and germs! Gardening friends can add a bit of garlic water when watering, and it will kill scale insects, aphids, nematodes and more in minutes, letting your flowers grow up healthy!

1. Mash the garlic cloves into garlic paste

First peel the garlic, then mash it into garlic paste; the finer you mash it, the better, so the allicin can better do its job of killing pests and sterilizing.

2. Add clean water and let it sit for 24 hours

Put the garlic paste into a plastic bottle, then pour clean water over the garlic paste; a ratio of garlic paste to clean water of 1:20 is fine, screw on the cap, and leave it in a cool place for 24 hours.

3. Spray the garlic water on the leaves, and the bugs die off completely

After the garlic water has soaked for 24 hours, pour the upper layer of liquid from the bottle into a spray bottle, first spray directly at the spots with bugs, then spray both sides of the leaves. Spray once a day, for 3-5 times in a row, and the bugs are all done for; it's eco-friendly and easy!

Tree of heaven leaves

The special odor of the tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima) can effectively kill pests and germs, and its leaves also contain flavonoids and various other effective pest-killing ingredients. The tree of heaven is fairly common in green belts, so gardening friends can pick some leaves and make a purely natural pesticide that will immediately do in aphids and cabbage worms!

1. Mash fresh tree of heaven leaves

Gardening friends can go to a green belt and pick some tree of heaven leaves; choose fresh ones, pick as many as possible, take them home and mash them, add 3 times the amount of clean water, and soak for 1-2 days.

2. Filter out the leaf residue and spray the leaves

After the mashed tree of heaven leaves have soaked in the clean water, find a clean piece of gauze, filter out the leaf residue, then pour the tree of heaven leaf water into a spray bottle, and spray toward the spots with aphids, cabbage worms and so on; spray 1-2 times a day, for 3-5 days in a row, and the pest-killing effect is awesome!

Laundry detergent water

Laundry detergent really counts as a must-have in every household; laundry detergent water can effectively kill red spider mites, scale insects, whiteflies, aphids and more. This is because laundry detergent water can dissolve the waxy layer on the surface of pests, while also forming a film on their surface that isolates air and suffocates them to death.

1. Dilute the laundry detergent 800-1000 times

Choose neutral laundry detergent for killing pests, don't use laundry detergent that is too alkaline, to prevent burning the tender leaves of your flowers. Take one spoonful of laundry detergent, pour in 800-1000 times the amount of clean water, and stir well so it completely dissolves.

2. Spray toward the bugs

Pour the completely dissolved laundry detergent water into a spray bottle, and spray toward the leaves and branches with aphids and red spider mites; try not to spray it onto the potting soil. Use it once every 3 days, and after 3-4 times in a row the bugs will be completely gone.

3. You can also use a brush

You can also find a soft-bristled brush, dip it in the laundry detergent water and gently brush the spots with bugs; this better avoids the laundry detergent water flowing into the soil.

4. Rinse the branches and leaves with clean water in time

The next day after spraying, carefully check the leaves; if you find the bugs are gone, rinse the branches and leaves with clean water to prevent the laundry detergent from corroding them.

Chili water

Quite a few gardening friends say that after they started growing flowers, there are nonstop fungus gnats at home; hurry and try chili water! It contains strongly irritating capsaicin, and no matter how many fungus gnats there are, it can kill them all; it's absolutely non-toxic and harmless, and lets your flowers grow vigorously!

1. The spicier the chili, the better the pest-killing effect

Gardening friends should note that when choosing chilies, the spicier the better; if you use a bell pepper that isn't spicy enough, it will fall far short of the effect. For example, very spicy facing-heaven chilies, dried chilies or fresh chilies are all fine.

2. Chop the chilies and boil them in water

Chop the chilies finely with a knife; if they are fresh chilies, be careful not to let the juice splash into your eyes, and it's best to wear gloves to prevent the spiciness from burning your hands.

3. Filter the chili water and spray it on the pests

Use a strainer to filter out the chili residue from the chili water, then dilute the chili water another 50 times, pour it into a spray bottle, and spray toward the spots with fungus gnats; after spraying, the fungus gnats all die, and their bodies fall all over the place.

Chinaberry leaves

The chinaberry tree (Melia azedarach), also called bitter chinaberry or purple-flower tree, is generally planted along both sides of roads or in park green belts, and grows tall and lush. The leaf sap of the chinaberry contains toosendanin, which can very quickly kill cabbage worms, aphids, red spider mites and more. Let's see how it's made.

1. Pick fresh chinaberry leaves and mash them

Go to a chinaberry tree and pick some fresh leaves; choose fresh ones, which have more sap, and pick more, preferably 1.5 kg. After mashing them, add an equal amount of clean water.

2. Filter out the leaf residue

Use a strainer to filter out the leaf residue, then add 10 times the amount of clean water to dilute it, pour it into a spray bottle, and spray toward the branches and leaves with pests and diseases; the bugs die very quickly. Chinaberry leaves are extremely effective at killing pests, so gardening friends should hurry and try it!

Wood ash water

Wood ash can not only supplement potassium fertilizer for flowers, but also quickly wipe out pests such as red spider mites, aphids and whiteflies, making your flowers grow more and more vigorously.

1. Pour clean water into the wood ash water

Take an appropriate amount of wood ash, put it into a plastic bottle, pour in 10 times the amount of clean water, shake it as evenly as possible, then let it sit for 8 hours.

2. Spray to kill pests

After the wood ash water has sat for 8 hours, layering will appear; pour out the clearer upper layer of wood ash water, put it into a spray bottle, and spray toward the branches and leaves with pests; spray 1-2 times a month and that's enough.
