What Fertilizer Is Best for Cyclamen? A Detailed Guide to the Correct Fertilizing Method
1. By element
Before choosing fertilizer for it, we need to consider what nutrient elements it needs. Besides the general elements, that is, P, N and K, it also needs trace elements such as Zn, P, Mg, Fe and Cu.
First, about the main elements, that is, N, P and K. In the early stage of its growth, the flower fertilizer we give it requires a ratio of N, P and K of 1:1:1; after it grows to a certain stage, we need to provide more K element, and the ratio of the three elements can become 1:1:2; and after it gradually matures, we need to again increase the proportion of the K element, making the ratio of the three elements 1:1:3.
Next, about trace elements, we can use some solutions to supplement them for it. For example, Fe can be supplemented with FeSO4, but note that the concentration must not be too high, otherwise it will damage the plant.
3. By fertilizer
There are many fertilizers sold on the market. We can apply the relatively ordinary and widely available urea on the market; in addition, there are some fertilizers specially made for flowers, such as Huaduoduo, Bikaihua and Biwang, all of which can serve as its fertilizer. Of course, we can also use a full-element nutrient solution; this kind of fertilizer can be added to water and applied when watering, so that its flowers will also bloom larger and more numerous.
3. Precautions
When the temperature is relatively high, we should reduce the amount of flower fertilizer used, and for some smaller-growing varieties the amount of fertilizer applied needs to be reduced even further. Also, each time we fertilize we must not apply it too thickly, and during the growth period once every ten days is enough; during the flowering period it does not need nitrogen. Of course, there is one more point that I believe everyone knows, which is that flower fertilizer must not be poured directly onto the top; we only need to let the fertilizer be applied to its soil. And if the concentration is particularly low, it can be sprayed directly on the leaves, but if it has already bloomed, its flowers and flower buds must not be touched.
