How to care for cyclamen in winter? Master these tips to get it safely through the winter
1. Temperature
Winter is its flowering period, and especially in December it will grow flower buds, so at this time we cannot let it stay in a place with very low temperatures. Generally speaking, we should keep the temperature between 15 and 18, and if this requirement cannot be met, it should not be allowed to drop below 10°C. In addition, we also need to be careful not to let it get too high, because this will shorten its flowering time. Finally, we must also be careful not to place it on a radiator to keep it warm.
2. Fertilizing
Because it needs a large amount of nutrients when it blooms, which is in winter, we should give it sufficient fertilizer. Generally speaking, we need to fertilize about once every two weeks, and potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus are all needed, though it is better to use a little more of the latter. As for the specific amount of fertilizer, for relatively large plants, apply about 3 to 4 grams.
3. Light
Because it quite likes light, and we also know that there is relatively little light in winter, once there is sunlight we should put it under the sun. In addition, if the light source is relatively limited for a long time, we can also give it a certain amount of artificial light.
4. Water
Water is still indispensable in winter, because if there is relatively little water it will affect its blooming, and watering must also be done in moderation, so one point we need to pay attention to is that we should only water after the soil has dried. Each time we water, we should wait until water begins to seep from the bottom before stopping. We should also note that water must not be poured onto its stems, and in addition the water quality and water temperature also need to be controlled well.
