How to plant lily of the valley bulbs? Learn the correct planting method
1. Environment
We have certain requirements when choosing a location for it, and it must meet its survival conditions. It must not be greatly different from its growing habits. Because it does not have high soil requirements, we only need to give it fertile, slightly acidic soil, while the surrounding environment should mainly be shady and moist. Only in such an environment can it grow relatively well, and the quality of the flowers it produces will also be higher.
2. Season
Generally speaking, when planting bulbs we need to control the timing well. Planting them in spring is relatively better, though before the soil thaws in autumn is also feasible. It should be mentioned here that if the bulbs have not undergone low-temperature treatment, germination may take about a month. Once delayed in time, it is very likely to cause it to miss its normal growth timing.
To avoid this situation, we can sun-dry the bulbs in advance, then store them in relatively dry soil and plant them the following year. Remember that the storage temperature must be between 0 and 5 degrees, so they can also be placed in the refrigerator. In addition, we had best take them out from time to time to check on them and prevent them from rotting.
3. Method
First we take out the lily of the valley bulbs, then cut them into small pieces. Each piece needs to have a bud, because even if a piece without a bud is planted, it cannot grow, so special attention must be paid to this.
After that, bury them in the prepared soil. You can dig holes in the soil in advance, place the pieces into them when planting, and then cover with a thin layer of soil. Note that the soil must not be too thick, otherwise it will increase the difficulty of sprouting. Finally, place them in a shady, slightly moist place for care.
When all the external conditions meet the requirements, it will grow safely, and generally by the second year it will bloom.
