How to grow aloe so it thrives? Master these care tips

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Many people love growing aloe, but the results everyone gets are quite different. Some grow in all kinds of shapes, while others stay plain and extremely short. So how do you grow it so it becomes more vigorous? First, choose suitable potting soil for it, ideally loose and airy. Then be sure to water and fertilize it in good time to supply what it needs for growth. In addition, give it as much light as possible, and repot it every one to two years. Doing this will let it grow very vigorously!

1. Potting soil should be mixed appropriately

Potting soil is the foundation it relies on for growth, so we must choose the potting soil well. For growing it, soil with good fertilizer retention, water retention and drainage, and air permeability is usually chosen, and the pH should also be moderate. Here, field mud, garden mud and the like are often mixed in a certain ratio.

2. Water appropriately

It likes moisture very much. Normally, keep the soil as moist as possible, but do not water too much, otherwise the roots rot easily. When watering, always water gently along the edge of the pot. Never use force, to prevent the potting soil from compacting, which would affect its air permeability. If the potting soil accidentally compacts, loosen the soil appropriately.

3. Fertilize appropriately

While it is growing, nutrients are indispensable, so we should normally give it appropriate fertilizer to meet its growth needs. Before applying, it is best to dilute the flower fertilizer with clean water. After that, the number of fertilizer applications depends on its growth condition.

4. Repot at the right time

After it has been grown for 1 to 2 years, it needs repotting once, and the best time is between April and May and between September and October. When repotting, keep the potting soil intact. After repotting, also place it in a semi-shady spot for a period of time. Once the young plant has fully recovered, it can be moved to a sunny spot for care.

5. Appropriate light

It likes light very much. Except that right after planting it should not get too much sun, at other times it does not matter. Only with more sun will it grow better.

6. Safe overwintering

In the south, placing it indoors in winter generally lets it overwinter safely. But in the north that does not work, because it can only tolerate temperatures above 5 degrees. And even if the temperature is not low, certain corresponding warmth measures must be taken in winter. In addition, water less in winter, or not at all, but let it get more sunlight so it can grow better.
