Reasons and Solutions for Curling Rubber Plant Leaves
1. Caused by water
During normal watering, if the amount of water is too much, waterlogging is likely to occur, which affects root respiration, making the roots prone to rot, and the leaves begin to curl. At this point we must get the watering amount right and must not let the potting soil become too wet. In addition, the potting soil must not be left short of water for a long time, as this will also cause the leaves to curl.
This requires us to always pay attention to the condition of the potting soil when replenishing water for it: water again once it is dry, and if it is not dry, there is no need to water for now.
2. Caused by low temperature
It is extremely intolerant of cold. When the temperature is between 22°C and 32°C, it grows best. So in winter the temperature must not be too low; keeping it above 10°C is normally enough. If it drops below this temperature, it is easily frostbitten, causing the leaves to curl.
So in winter, try to move it indoors for care and provide it with certain measures to keep it warm.
3. Caused by insufficient light
It loves light very much. If it is kept indoors for a long time without receiving sunlight, it will lead to insufficient light, and the leaves will naturally curl.
At this point, we should change its environment and let it enjoy as much sunlight as possible.
4. Caused by compacted soil
During care, if the soil is not turned for a long time, the soil will become compacted, making its air permeability worse. This in turn affects root respiration and, in severe cases, also harms the leaves. At this point, we should loosen the soil in time to enhance the soil's air permeability, promote normal root respiration, and the leaves will no longer curl.
